The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) is the voice of the land development, home building and professional renovation industry in the Greater Toronto Area. A high profile not-for-profit trade association, we represent more than 1,450 member companies who work building smart, innovative and liveable communities in the GTA. We are currently seeking a communication specialist with strong writing skills to join our small in-house communications team. The Specialist will write, edit and produce high-quality communications products such as columns, articles, speeches, news releases, newsletters and publications for internal and external audiences. As well, the specialist will lead digital communications efforts including social media and websites. What you will do: Research and write numerous communications products, such as newspaper columns, media releases, announcements, and blog posts; Write and edit association e-newsletters; Media relations including developing media materials and key messaging, fielding media inquiries, and tracking media coverage; Develop and maintain a comprehensive social media program including maintaining an editorial calendar, writing and posting online content, monitoring for potential issues and opportunities, and compiling and analysing results; Manage association websites; Support executive management and members at events through preparation of presentations, messaging and speeches. What you bring: University Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration or equivalent discipline; A minimum of 4 years’ experience in communications, public relations or journalism; Experience writing and editing a variety of communications products; Web and social media savvy, with knowledge and experience with social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram, plus familiarity with content management systems; Strong attention to detail and project management skills; Ability to prioritize, multi-task, set and achieve deadlines, and manage a demanding workload in a fast-paced environment; Familiarity with land development or real estate issues, or experience in a member-based organization would be an asset.
